Grace Ngugi Maina is the Deputy Director Special Programmes Department. This is the Department that hosts Values Based Education among other Learner Support Programmes at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.
Grace has 24 years’ experience in curriculum development. She is an Accredited Counselor Supervisor, Author, Certified Professional Mediator, and a Psychometrician
She also seats in several local Boards/Councils and international committees such as Social Emotional Learning Committee (KARANGA), Education Policy Makers Network both in Salzburg Austria, International Committee on Peace and Education in Emergency New York (2017), Psycho- Social Support and Social Emotional Learning (PSS-SEL) Working Group under the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergency (INEE)
She is a member of the National Advisory committee on Assessment of Values &Life Skills in East Africa. She spearheaded the establishment of Life skills Education and values-based Education and Career Guidance at Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development in Kenya.
Grace has been a Lead Researcher in several researches especially on, values education, Life Skills, psychosocial & mental health (PSMH).
Grace holds a BED, MED- Guidance and Counselling, Diploma in Psychological Counseling, and is currently a PhD candidate in Educational Psychology.
Her passion at personal and professional levels is to advocate and support nurturing of values and development of psychosocial competencies for quality education and holistic development of the learner.
